Rihanna Penning Songs for Upcoming Album

Posted by Janice Bryant On June - 21 - 2010

Rihanna, both professionally and personally, is in a much better place than the pop singer was just a year ago. The fact that she is being ultra-productive totally makes sense. Rihanna continues to promote “Rated R” and will be on the road during July and August on “Last Girl on Earth Tour.” Rihanna is dating Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers and ex boy friend Chris Brown is no longer in the picture. Life is good for the singer. Despite all of this, Rihanna is working in the studio on new songs. The girl must never get any sleep.

Sean Garrett, producer and songwriter, revealed to MTV News some news regarding the album. He said, I definitely can say the new album will be a lot more happy and exciting. I hope it’s ok for me to say this. I really love Rihanna. She is like my sister. She is fun. She doesn’t take herself really seriously. That is what this album will be about. I remember back when Rihanna was a girl from the islands and having fun and enjoying lifee with “Pon de Replay.” It seemed like she had that thing. It wasn’t real serious until the incident with Chris Brown happened. After that it become so serious. That is life. I am happy seeing her back. I can say definitely the record we have been working on is explosive and very positive. It is heavy into club.

Rihanna’s A&R rep said we are going with The Dream, Ne-Yo and other producers and writers that have been part of Rihanna’s creative process from the beginning. She is great working with. With every song being produced and written she is very hands on. It’s giving me a feleing of an album that is timeless already. It’s her time right now.

Rihanna Dropped Drake Like a Bad Habit

Posted by Janice Bryant On June - 10 - 2010

Drake, the young hip-hop stud, in a recent New York Times interview confirmed the wide spread rumor that he and Rihanna dated briefly last summer. That might not sound like such a big deal. He was 22 at the time and she was 21, so as expected the relationship fizzled out almost as fast as it started. What is surprising however, is Drake’s candor in speaking of the past relationship.

The Times quotes a verse from the opening track “Fireworks” from Drake’s upcoming debut album called “Thank Me Later.” On the song, which doesn’t mention Rihanna’s name, Drake raps I could tell this wasn’t love. I thought you were f___ with me.

Drake told the New York Times, looking back on the relationship that he was a pawn. What she did to me was exactly what I have done to many women in my life. Show them some quality time before disappearing. I thought, this feels terrible.

That quote is amazing. There aren’t too many rappers who would say openly that a woman stomped all over their heart. It’s one of the things that makes Drake such an outstanding artist. It’s not that he hurts exactly like we do. He is human after all. What makes him special is the fact in a world where men are as tough as Teflon, he has the confidence to say that he is weak.

Two songs from guys talking about hurting over their exes in real life are “Don’t Pretend” by Travie McCoy, talking about Katy Perry, and “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake, referring to Britney Spears.

Rihanna Sports Red Hair, Madonna Bra in Madrid

Posted by Janice Bryant On June - 7 - 2010

Rihanna is a rock star. She now has the cone bra of Madonna’s and the hairdo for proving it.

On Friday, Rihanna debuted her styled and newly dyed fiery red hair when she hit the stage in Spain at the musical festival Rock in Rio.

The singer of “Rockstar 101” strummed an air guitar while channeling the vintage 50’s style Madonna cone bra along with black high waisted pants.

According to PopEater.com, the flaming new hairdo of Rihanna’s with shaved side is a creation of Ursula Stephen, celebrity hairstylist.

Stephen isn’t a stranger to celebrity hair. She has styled for stars such as Keyshia Cole, “Destiny Child’s” Michelle Williams, and Saleisha Stowers, winner of “America’s Next Top Model.”

The vibrant performance by Rihanna was the latest date on her 62 concert tour “Last Girl on Earth.”

In July, the tour will be in the US. It will wrap up on August 28 in Syracuse.
